Girls HP 15: Day 2 Recap

District 3 – 1; District 10 – 1

There was one goal per period, but neither could break the tie in the 1-1 game between District 3 and District 10. Georgia Pettygrove (Hopkins) scored for District 3 at 7:07 of the first half. Gabby Krause (Andover) responded for District 10 with 5:31 remaining in the second half. Each team had their fair share of chances down the stretch but were unable to pot a winning goal.

 

District 5 – 5; District 2 – 1

Three unanswered goals in the second half sealed the deal for District 5 in a 5-1 victory over District 2. District 5 scored three goals on seven shots. Cailey Davidson (St. Cloud) had two assists and Isabel Varner (Buffalo) stopped 12 of 12 faced for the shutout in the second half for District 5.

 

District 6 – 8; District 16 – 1

Olivia Haag (Benilde-St. Margaret’s) and Grace Kuipers (Eden Prairie) each had two goals and one assist in an 8-1 win against District 16. District 6 jumped out to a 5-0 lead at the half. Kylie Roberts (Edina) had two assists and Emily Zumwinkle (Breck) had one goal and one assist in the win. Karlie Meeker (Warroad) scored the lone goal for District 16, while Lydia Hodgson (Warroad) and Molly Goergen (Eden Prairie) combined for 34 saves on 42 shots faced in the game.

 

 

District 8 – 3; District 15 – 0

Ella Reynolds (South St. Paul) scored twice and tallied an assist for District 3 en route to a 3-0 win. Mikayla Kelley (Eastview) had two assists in the victory and goaltenders Skyler Vetter (Lakeville North) and Maria Widen (Burnsville) each stopped four shots in the shutout.

 

District 4/9 – 5; District 11/12 – 1

Grace Wolfe (Owatonna) scored twice and Liberty Fettig (Lakeville South) had two assists as District 4/9 topped District 11/12. Eliza Dinatale (Red Wing) opened the scoring at 20:22 with a wrist shot to the corner. Mckenna Freerksen (Dodge County), who assisted on Dinatale’s opening goal, scored 12 seconds later for a 2-0 lead. Wolfe scored with 18 seconds left in the first half to build a 3-0 lead that proved too much for District 11/12. Gracie Thomas (Marshall) scored the solo goal for District 11/12.
