CCM HP Girls 17: Day 2 Recap

Section 8A/AA – 8; Section 1A/AA – 1
It was a multipoint day for many including Cheyenne Abear (Brainerd) who registered a team-high five points (four goals, one assist) to push Section 8A/AA past Section 1A/AA. Gabbie Smith (Brainerd) scored twice and tacked on two assists and Gabrielle Rud (St. Cloud) also had four points (one goal, three assists) for Section 8A/AA. Madison McDonald (East Grand Forks) also added two points (one goal, one assist). Sydney Breza (Shattuck-St. Mary’s) scored the lone goal for Section 1A/AA, unassisted, and goaltender Mikayla Pahl (Rochester Mayo) stopped 16 of 19 shots faced. Section 8A/AA goalie Olivia King (Brainerd) saved all 13 shots on goal.

 

Section 4A/AA – 5; Section 7A/AA – 3
Powered behind three first half goals, Section 4A/AA topped Section 7A/AA despite a near comeback from Section 7A/AA. Kaitlyn Kaufman (Hill Murray) and Madelyn Sanda (Gentry Academy) put Section 4A/AA up 2-0 in the middle of the frame. Madisen Peterson (Princeton) brought it within one but Lauren Einan (Stillwater) answered back for 4A/AA nine seconds later to regain a two-goal lead. In the second half Peterson again made it a one-goal game but Kaufman tallied her second, with Peterson answering back once more with a hattrick to bring it back within one with 1:57 remaining. Sydney Shearen (White Bear Lake) put the nail in the coffin and secured the win for 4A/AA with 23 seconds remaining. Abby Edstrom (Hibbing) stopped 20 of 22 shots for Section 7A/AA.

 

Section 5A/AA – 4; Section 2A/AA – 1
Olivia Mobley
(Breck) had two goals and one assist en route to a victory over Section 2A/AA. Madison Mashuga (Anoka) and Claire DeVries (Chisago Lakes) also scored for Section 5A/AA, while Carrie Byrnes (Eden Prairie) helped avoid the shutout for Section 2A/AA with the lone goal.

 

Section 3A/AA – 2; Section 6A/AA – 1
Two second-half goals helped Section 3A/AA edge Section 6A/AA, 2-1. Hannah Wieland (Mankato West) and Ashley Pudwill (Minnesota River) each scored, and Riley Pester (Burnsville) had a shutout in the second half, saving 24 shots, in the win. Jade Zierden (Fergus Falls) scored the solo tally 3:20 into the first half for Section 6A/AA.
