Section 3A/AA - 2, Section 8A/AA - 3
After trailing, 1-0, at the break, Section 8A/AA rallied for four goals in a see-saw second half to overcome Section 3A/AA, 4-2, in the opening game of the Girls HP17 Spring Festival. The two sides went back-and-forth in the opening nine minutes of the final stanza, leaving the score deadlocked at two apiece. Forward Abbie Pohlkamp (Brainerd) gave Section 8A/AA its first lead of the game, 3-2, with 7:58 to play and they never looked back. Forward Gabbie Smith (Brainderd) salted the win away with an empty-netter with two seconds to play to cap a two-point debut after assisting on Pohlkamp's game-winner. Goaltender Anna LaRose (North Wright County) was perfect on 16 shots in the second half to backstop Section 8A/AA to the win.

Section 1A/AA - 7, Section 6A/AA - 0
A four-point (2-2) outing from forward Sydney Breza (Shattuck St. Mary's) led a relentless Section 1A/AA attack as it jumped out to an early lead, never looked back and cruised to a 7-0 win over Section 6A/AA. Section 1A/AA jumped all over their opponents from the get-go, scoring twice in the opening 10:30 of the first half before rattling of five more unanswered goals in the closing stanza. Section 1A/AA scored twice 19 seconds apart in the first 4:11 of the second half to erase any hope of a Section 6A/AA comeback. Breza finished with a team-leading two goals and four points, followed closely by forwards Marissa Agerter (Farmington) and Olivia Smallbrock (Dodge County) who finished with a goal and three points apiece. Goaltenders Kallie Schneider (Lakeville North) and Makayla Paul (Mayo Boys) stopped 11 and 16 shots, respectively, to combine for the shutout.

Section 5A/AA - 2, Section 4A/AA - 4
Fueled by a game-high two goals from forward Sydney Shearen (White Bear Lake), Section 4A/AA outlasted Section 5A/AA for a 4-2 win on Friday. Shearen's first half goal gave her team a 1-0 lead at the break, but Section 5A/AA came out of the second half gates with a vengeance—scoring twice in the first 76 seconds of the stanza to grab a 2-1 lead. Section 4A/AA was not deterred, though. It equalized with 21:18 to play before Shearen netted the game-winner with 10:12 left. She added an assist on forward Lexie Ligday's (Stillwater) win-sealing empty-netter to cap a three-point (2-1) effort. Shearen, Ligday (1-1) and forward Kaitlyn Kaufman (0-2) (Hill Murray) all finished with multiple points in their team's win.

Section 2A/AA vs. Section 7A/AA
Two goals from forward Brooke Remington (Forest Lake) proved to be the difference as Section 7A/AA fended off Section 2A/AA's fierce late rally for a narrow win, 4-3, in the final game of the opening day of the Girls HP17 Spring Festival. Remington scored twice in a row late in the first half to take her team from a 2-1 to a 4-1 lead—which ended up being vital. After Remington's second goal with 19:02 to play in the second half, Section 2A/AA mounted a furious comeback. Forward Alex Hantge (Hutchinson) scored twice in the final 5:18, including drawing her side within one with 78 seconds to play, but Remington's goal proved to be the difference as Section 2A/AA came up just shot.
