CCM HP Girls Select 17: Day 1

SECTION 4A/AA – 2, SECTION 3A/AA – 0

Section 4 took early control of the game, maintaining possession in the offensive zone for the majority of the opening period. Section 3 goaltender Chloe Heating (East Ridge) was strong between the pipes, turning away 14 shots in the first to keep the game scoreless. Section 4’s Samantha Burke (St. Paul United) broke the 0-0 score at 6:34 of the second. Burke tallied another one with 1:58 remaining for the final 2-0 score.

SECTION 1A/AA – 4, SECTION 6A/AA -- 1

A win off the opening draw followed by a quick shot gave Section 1 an early momentum swing. Ellie Moser (Farmington) scored eight minutes into the first period at 16:00. Clara Billings (Rochester 15UA) added another goal less than three minutes later with a great pass and setup by Madigan Goldsworthy (Northfield) from behind the net to make it 2-0 at 13:43. Section 1 increased the lead to 3-0 when Kenzie Hauswirth (Shattuck St. Mary’s) took a wrister from the slot at 3:41. Allyah Lance (Edina) got Section 6 on the board with a snipe at 1:48 for a 3-1 score. Billings answered back with her second of the night with 36.8 left to give Section 1 the 4-1 final. Goaltenders Stephanie Garvis (Wayzata) (16 saves) and Megan Smith (Edina) (19) combined to make 35 saves for Section 6.

SECTION 5A/AA – 5, SECTION 8A/AA – 1

Abbrielle Jones (Blaine) had three points (two goals, one assist) and Ramsey Parent (Blaine) notched two en route to a 5-1 Section 5 win. Madison Demarais (Sartell-Sauk Rapids) made 24 saves for Section 8 in the first half to keep the score 1-1 with goals coming from Parent at 14:59 and Tessa Jorde (Thief River Falls) who went front to back for the tying goal at 7:56. Madison Tix (Blake) scored first for Section 8 at 18:07 of the second with Jones recording two at 15:54 and 11:01. Parent sealed the win with a goal that went five-hole. 

SECTION 7A/AA -- 3, SECTION 2A/AA -- 2 (OT)

Madison Bizal (Elk River/Zimmerman) scored the game-winning goal 1:41 into overtime with a snip to the corner to give Section 7 the victory. Section 7 jumped out to an initial 2-1 lead after the first with goals by Kelsey King (Elk River/Zimmerman) at 22:56 and Reilly Springman (Elk River/Zimmerman) at 7:47. Less than one minute after Springman's goal, Chloe McEnelly (Holy Family/Waconia) brought Section 2 within one. Ali Beltz (New Ulm) tied the game with 1:25 remaining in the second frame to force overtime.
