Congratulations to Cyndi Young of the Fergus Falls Hockey Association (“FFHA”) on being named January’s Total Hockey Volunteer of the Month! Young has served in a variety of roles with FFHA including being a Vice President for over five years and serving as the District 15 Tournament Coordinator.

As a member of the FFHA Hockey Operations Committee, Young played a key role in developing Fergus Falls’ Rookie Program, which is designed to introduce new players and families to hockey. The low cost, learn to skate program is held each winter on a consistent night and time. Youth hockey coaches and local high school players provide the participants with basic skating and hockey skills in a fun environment. The Rookie Program has grown significantly over the years and typically converts around 50% of the participants into the association the following fall.

Young continues to be involved with the Rookie Program, but as vice president, she’s also spent a significant amount of time enhancing the association’s promotional efforts, the FFHA website and fulfilling the board’s secretary duties.

Starting this season, Young has also taken her volunteer efforts beyond the Fergus Falls community. She now serves as the District 15 Tournament Coordinator and is responsible for overseeing the USA Hockey sanctioning of invitational tournaments in District 15 and the planning of the 2017 district tournaments.

Minnesota Hockey and Total Hockey would like to thank Cyndi for everything she’s done to get more kids playing hockey in the Fergus Falls area and for ensuring they have a positive experience!  It is volunteers like Cyndi across our state who make community hockey in Minnesota so special.
