CCM HP Boys Select 16: Day 2

Section 4: 4, Section 6: 2

Section 6 controlled the majority of play during the first half. Outstanding goaltending from Henry Sibley’s Thomas Buell kept the score 0-0 during that period. Section 4 started the second half with a good push and notched a goal courtesy of Matthew Gellerman on a rebound assisted by Devlin McCabe. Section 6 answered right back with a rocket of a shot by Dylan Hoen. A power play for Section 4 turned into a goal by Samuel Karr from Jake Henthorne putting Section 4 back on top by 1. Again, Section 6 answered right back with a goal by Luc Monney with the assist going to Fred Macciocchi. Andrew Austin of St. Paul Johnson nets a goal with a pass from Matthew Gellerman making it 3-2 in favor of Section 4. Ben Helgeson of Section 4 picked up the empty net goal to seal the deal with a final score of 4-2.

Section 1: 6, Section 7: 3

Luke Mountain lit the lamp first and put Section 1 on top 1-0. A nice feed from Cam Blue on a 2-on-1 allowed Lucas Newman to make it 2-0 in favor of Section 1. Brandon McNamara made it 2-1 on a rebound opportunity. A stretch pass from Dustin Sorenson sent Dylan Schneider in for a breakaway goal giving Section 1 a 3-1 lead. Section 1 pulled away with another breakaway goal by Luke Mountain, his second of the game. Cody Hendrickson got Section 7 back into the game with a power play goal. Section 7 pulled within one with a goal by Dylan Fink assisted by Ryder Donovan. A crazy rebound and hard work by Dylan Schneider put Section 1 back up by 2. Jackson Maroushek put the nail in the coffin for Section 1 with an empty net goal to make it 6-3, final.

Section 2: 2, Section 3: 1

Great goaltending was the name of the game throughout a heated battle between Section 2 and Section 3. Chase Foley of St. Thomas Academy got the scoring started for Section 3 shortly into the second half. Section 2 tied up the game with 7:39 remaining by a Jack Suchy shot off a 3-on-2. Section 2 turned up the heat taking a 2-1 lead thanks to a Tanner Glasrud slap shot, which proved to be the game-winner.

Section 5: 6, Section 8: 3

Section 5 jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period thanks to goals from Coon Rapids’ Michael Crosbie and Maple Grove’s Ryan Brandt. East Grand Forks’ Tanner Mack and Moorhead’s Isaac Henkemeyer Howe responded with goals of their own to even the score. Then came an onslaught from Section 5, including tallies from Nicholas Revering, Jordan Randall, Derric Bergman and Andrew Stuart. Travis Allen and Joseph Daninger stopped 22 shots in the winning effort. Nathaniel Johnston and Lemuel Carradice saved 40 for Section 8. Section 5 will face Section 2 in the consolation final on Sunday at 1:45 p.m. on Rink A.
