CCM HP Girls Select 16: Day 2

Section 6: 3, Section 4: 0

Maria Decesare put Section 6 on the board midway through the first period, and they never looked back. Carolina Bowlby and Brianna Willier added goals to seal the 3-0 victory. All six points were scored by different players. Stephanie Garvis stopped 10 and Nicole Hartnett saved 12 to combine for the shutout. Alexa Berg and Calla Frank stopped 26 shots for Section 4. Section 6 will play Section 7 in the consolation finals on Sunday at 10:15 a.m. on Rink C.

Section 7: 8, Section 8: 0

Section 7 was feeling it on Saturday afternoon. Six different players tallied multiple-point performances – Isabella Sutherland (1g, 1a), Amber Tilander (3a), Madisen Drotts (2a), Kelsey King (1g, 1a), Ashley Schintz (2g), Sadie Peart (3a). Keelan Syck and Megan Jung combined for the 10-save shutout. Jordyn Tomaszewski and Kiana Flaig each stopped 26 shots.

Section 1: 8, Section 3: 1

Sophia Leong put Section 3 on the board very early on, but it was all Section 1 after that. They scored 8 unanswered goals to secure the victory. Red Wing’s Taylor Heise tallied 2 goals and 1 assist. Gracie Ostertag (1g, 1a), Kyah Orr (1g, 1a), McKenzie Hauswirth (1g, 1a) and Eleanor Moser (1g, 1a) all tallied multiple points in the contest.

Section 2: 3, Section 5: 2 (OT/SO)

Section 2 and Section 5 battled not just into overtime, but into a shootout. Kaitlyn Blair opened the scoring for Section 2 with an assist to Katie Calliguri. Centennial’s Hailee Berg tied the game for Section 5. Berg added her second of the night in the second period to give Section 5 a 2-1 lead, with assists to Abbrielle Jones and Clarissa Wallin. But Section 2 would not be denied. With 18 seconds left in regulation, Chloe McEnelly tied the game. After a scoreless overtime period, Jacqueline Falk’s shootout winner gave Section 2 the victory. Section 2 will play Section 1 in the championship on Sunday at 4 p.m. on Rink B.
