Summary

This week's Drill of the Week comes from Aaron Fulton who is in his 5th season as the Head Coach of the Eastview High School Boys Hockey team. Aaron has been coaching for 20 years and has also helped coach in Minnesota Hockey's CCM High Performance and Tier 1 Leagues.

DESCRIPTION

  • The drill starts 2 v 2 below the top of the circles, with the coach dumping the puck in for a battle. The other players above the line should be active and working toward the puck.
  • The two players above the line must stay above it until their teammate comes above it.
  • Once a team has gained possession and had a shot on goal, the opposing team must bring the puck back above the line before they attack on offense.
  • 45 seconds per rep, and then switch players. You can also change on the fly to add a different element to it, especially for older skaters.

KEY POINTS

  • Keep players from being stagnant.
  • Creating space.
  • Supporting teammates off the puck.
