Summary

This week's Drill of the Week comes from Ricky Saintey who has been coaching high school hockey for 16 years and 19 years overall. This is his 7th year as Head Boys Hockey Coach at Rosemount High School. He has also been coaching Minnesota Hockey's CCM High Performance Teams in the spring and fall.

DESCRIPTION

  • X passes to O and attacks him across the rink. X should be moving, and O should start moving as well.
  • O receives the pass in stride and attacks the barriers and cone with as much speed as possible, trying to separate from X.
  • O is trying to earn the far post or create a scoring opportunity.
  • X is working to match the speed of the attacking player and recognize the different depths at which these players are attacking.

KEY POINTS

  • This can be used as a station or in a half-ice practice.
