Summary

This week's Drill of the Week comes from Thomas Johnson, who is District 5’s CCM High Performance Programs General Manager, Boys HP 15’s Head Coach, Assistant Coach of the Buffalo High School Boys Varsity team, MN Hockey MDM Instructor, and Director of Mite, 8U, & 6U Hockey Operations for the Armstrong-Cooper association.

DESCRIPTION

  • X1 starts in front of the net with the coach at the top of the circle, and X2 is on the wall at the top of the circle.
  • The coach shoots on the net, and X1 tries to tip or redirect the puck past the goalie.
  • After the tip or redirection, X2 rings the puck along the boards. As that happens, X1 goes around the net and retreives the puck off the boards before wrapping to the net to try and beat the goalie.

KEY POINTS

  • Tipping and deflecting shots.
  • Working on possessing the puck off the board and then quickly moving with it to the net.
