Game 1 of the Minnesota Hockey HP Spring Festival opened with Section 5 A/AA facing off to Section 2 A/AA. Section 5 took a two goal lead halfway through the first half with a goal from McKenzie Keller (Minnetonka), after Elly Klepinger (Minnetonka) had opened up the scoring four minutes prior. Section 5 fired answered with a pair of goals by Lauren Ballinger (Mounds View) and Bella Shipley (Maple Grove) to tie the game at two going into the break. A lone goal in the second half from Grace Sadura (Minnetonka) was the difference.
Game 2 action saw Section 1 A/AA facing off with Section 6 A/AA. Both teams saw plenty of scoring chances through out the first half, but goals remained elusive. Genevieve Klein (Shattuck-St. Mary's) tallied 15 saves for Section 1 while Alexis Metcalf (Fergus Falls) saved 10 shots backstopping for Section 6 in the first half. Section 1 came out of the break firing fast and took the first lead of the game on a goal by Abby Gehrke (Farmington) less than a minute into the second half. Delaney Fleming (Shattuck-St. Mary's) added a second goal on an Abby Vetsch (Owatonna) assist. Lauren Hansen (Wayzata) scored Section 6's only goal with six minutes remaining but it would prove to be too little too late.
Section 3 A/AA (Gray) took on Section 4 A/AA (Light Blue) in the third game of Day 1 with Section 4 dominating both halves of the game with a shot advantage of 42-10. Ellah Hause (Hill Murray) started the scoring off with an unassisted goal. Alexa Hanrahan (Gentry) and Anna Jerylo (Hill Murray) would add two goals each, while Isabella Tuccitto (Simley), Campbell Heger (Gentry), Ellie Sarauer (Gentry), Lily Fetch (East Ridge), and Grace Delmonico (Gentry) each added a goal of their own. 15 players would tally points before the game's conclusion.
The final matchup of Day 1 started with a well matched first half with neither team being able to find the back of the net for the first 12 minutes of play. Ellan Hennes (Anoka) broke the scoring drought, the first of three unanswered goals for Section 7. But the three goal lead lasted for just 10 seconds. Kate Johnson (Warroad) scored a short-handed goal to make it 3-1. The momentum seemed to be turning when a goal by Lauren Maras (Alexandria) with three minutes left in the half pulled Section 8 to within a goal and they would return from intermission with a man advantage. But the second half was all Section 7, scoring four unanswered goals for the 7-3 win. Ella Boerger (Andover) led all scoring for the day with 2 goals and 3 assists.
