The registration for Minnesota Hockey’s first-ever Association Leader Excellence Conference is now open. The conference, which offers hockey leaders in Minnesota with unique opportunities to network and learn best practices, will be held on Saturday, May 7th at the Marriott Minneapolis West in St. Louis Park, MN.

"The conference provides a tremendous opportunity for our association leaders to learn how best to lead and manage their local association," said Dave Margenau, Minnesota Hockey President.  "For years, we have provided education for our coaches and parents, and this conference is an effort to provide education for association leaders.”

In an effort to present association and district leaders with the knowledge to deliver world-class youth hockey programs, the conference will focus on offering best practices on key topics and providing opportunities for leaders from youth hockey associations to network and share ideas. The conference will feature 20 sessions on topics ranging from the legal aspects of operating youth hockey associations to player development to growing the game and much more.

“It’s a testament to the professionalism of our association’s volunteers that Minnesota is a leader across the country in providing youth hockey programs,” said Glen Andresen, Minnesota Hockey Executive Director. “But the reality is every season these volunteers face complex challenges running major non-profit organizations on top of their day jobs, family life and their own kids’ hockey experience. We feel it’s critical to support them in every way we can, and this program will be a fantastic resource for them.”

Based on inquiries from associations across the state, Minnesota Hockey expects conference attendees to include, but not be limited to, association presidents, vice presidents, treasurers, hockey directors, growth coordinators and more.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 7, 2016, beginning in the morning and concluding in mid-afternoon. Minnesota Hockey will supply participants with affordable lodging rates, complimentary meals and a subsidy for those traveling more than 100 miles.
