Gold 2, Sky Blue 3
In a matchup that came down to the final minute of the game, Sky Blue’s Lucey Wilson (Moorhead), assisted by teammate Haley Box (Holy Family), found the back of the net late to grab a 3-2 win over Team Gold.
Gold’s Talla Hansen (Wayzata) and Wilson traded goals early before Brynn Laska (Stillwater) fired back to end the first half in Sky Blue’s favor. Kathryn Zakrajsheck (Breck) scored once more for Gold before the game-winning goal from Wilson with 1:01 remaining in the opening matchup of the day.
Royal 2, Red 2
Team Red and Team Royal tied 2-2 in the second matchup of the day. Lexi Smothers (Chisago Lakes) opened the scoring for Royal with a goal after eight minutes of play. Meanwhile Elizabeth Callahan (Mound Westonka/SWC) led the way for Red, scoring once unassisted in the first half and scoring early again in the second with the help of teammate June Semling (Champlin Park/Coon Rapids).
Team Royal’s Julia Gerdes (Andover) was quick to answer, scoring 34 seconds later to tie the game at 2-2. Royal had 36 shots-on-goal to Red’s 15.
