On Hockey Day Minnesota 2024, Minnesota Hockey announced that Rylan Knott, a Peewee player from Red Lake Falls, is the winner of the 2023-24 Minnesota Hockey Essay Contest, presented by Park Dental. 

Knott was one of three contest finalists that were highlighted on Bally Sports North (BSN) throughout the course of Hockey Day Minnesota. The other finalists were Hannah Ziemer, a 10U player from North Wright County, and Natalie Bourdeaux, a 12U player from Anoka-Rogers. The finalists were selected by a committee from entries submitted by boys and girls around the state on the topic of “Other kids should play hockey because…”
