Minnesota Model Association Program

The Minnesota Model Association Program is designed to encourage, recognize and reward hockey associations who implement age appropriate skill development as outlined in the Minnesota Development Model (MDM) of best practices leading to greater skill development and retention of players.  The MDM, which was adapted from the American Development Model, provides the blueprint and the Model Association Program assists association toward implementing the MDM.  The Minnesota Model Association Program features four levels (Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum) of accomplishment with the intent of promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Program Recognition and Rewards:

  • Arena Banner for Each Level
  • Model Association Logo with Level for Association Website
  • Recognition on Minnesota Hockey website, publications and social media
  • Bronze $500, Silver $1,000, Gold $1500 and Platinum $2,000 - worth of items (selected by association in conjunction with District and State Hockey Director)

Application Process

Applications may be submitted at any time the association has met the requirements for a level. A new model associations may submit initial application for multiple levels (Bronze and Silver, Bronze, Silver and Gold).

  1. Association Hockey Director completes application and secures Association President’s signature attesting to the accuracy of the application.
  2. Application is submitted to the District Hockey Director to review, audit and approve the application.
  3. Application is forwarded to the Minnesota Hockey Hockey Director for review and approval. 
  4. The Minnesota Hockey Hockey Director notifies the applicant of the Minnesota Model Association status.
