The CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance Tier I Leagues provide the top players from each district or section a chance to play with and against the best players in the state. For the 2021-22 season, the Youth 15 classification is for players born in 2007. The Leagues are conducted in accordance with USA Hockey rules and all teams are eligible for USA Hockey’s Tier I National Championships.
The Youth 15 Tier I League will have nine total teams this season. There will be seven teams from the 12 Minnesota Hockey districts: Loons (District 2), Walleye (District 3), Polars (Districts 4/5), Lakers (District 6), Moose (Districts 8/9), Green Giants (District 10), and Blue Ox (Districts 11/12/15/16).
New for 2022-23, the Youth 15 Tier I League will be adding two teams, the Voyageurs (North) and Gray Ducks (South). These two teams will provide opportunities for players not selected during the initial tryout. The teams will play a modified schedule of six games against Youth 15 Tier I League teams, four in the NAHL Showcase and potentially more non-league games. Players will also have the chance to practice with and serve as an alternate for their "home" district team.
The tryout process will begin in June with competition weekends starting in late August and running through late September. As part of the CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance programs, there will be 18 on-ice skill development practices, eight off-ice training sessions, and at least 17 games including league games, NAHL Showcase and playoffs.
In partnership with TRIA, the Tier I Training Camp will once again kick off the season in late July or early August.
