The CCM High Performance Youth Tier I 16U League will host its League Playoffs at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, MN this weekend. The semifinal games will be held the afternoon of Saturday, October 27 with winners advancing to the championship game on Sunday, October 28.

The League Champion will advance to play Shattuck-St. Mary’s in the Minnesota District Youth Tier I 16U Playoff on Tuesday, November 6. The winner of that game will advance to the USA Hockey National Championships, which will be held in Grand Rapids, Michigan for the Youth Tier I 16U and 18U levels.

Both Youth 16U League semifinal games and the championship will be live streamed on the Minnesota Hockey website and YouTube channel by Eden Hall Productions. The live streams will be free to the public. Broadcast links to the games will be posted below and, on the Youth 16U League webpage

Walleye vs. Lakers at 3:15 PM

The first semifinal game will pit the top-seeded Walleye against the Lakers. The Walleye head into League Playoffs with only one blemish on their record. The Walleye rode a balanced attack, featuring six players averaging at or near a point per game, to become league’s top offense, scoring 56 goals in 13 league games (4.3 GPG). The Lakers enter the Playoffs as the fourth seed following an up and down year in League play, but having played the Walleye three times, they know what to expect and what it will take to pull out a victory in this semifinal matchup.

Blue Ox vs. Loons at 5:30 PM

The second seeded Blue Ox will host the Loons in the second Youth 16U League semifinal. The Blue Ox come into League Playoffs riding a six-game win streak including triumphs over all three teams in the playoffs. A combination of good goaltending and defensive play made the Blue Ox the stingiest team in the league, allowing only 18 goals in 12 league games. However, their playoff foe, the Loons, put up the most goals against the Blue Ox all season, tallying a 7-2 win in tournament play (not counted in League statistics).  With three players in the top ten in League scoring and the second most goals overall, the Loons will put the Blue Ox to the test.
