Happy New Year! The Rec League regular season kicked off this past week. Please check out some important opening-week announcements below.

COMPETITION
For years the Rec League has struggled to balance friend requests, limited travel and competitive games. The voice of the Rec League community strongly favored the social aspect of “playing with your friends," which is primarily how the teams were formed this year. What this means is that you may see some lopsided scores. Please be prepared for this and understand that these types of games may occur and that parents tend to be more affected by this than the players.  Coaches will do their best to ensure a good experience for all players, so please do your part. Remember, most players have already forgotten the game by the time they get home.

TEAM VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED

Many teams still need help with the scorebook, clock, team communication, & other support roles. Some positions have some minimal registration requirements. If you're interested, please see our VOLUNTEER INFO PAGE. If you're able to help, please contact your coach. Volunteers are always welcome!

ICE TIMES AT TRIA

Rec League players will be among the first to skate at the Minnesota Wild's brand new practice facility. We're very excited to provide this special opportunity to our players in the inaugural season of the TRIA Rink, which is located in downtown St. Paul. UPCOMING EVENTS: TEAM PHOTOS
The schedule for team & individual photos is now available. Please see TEAM PHOTO SCHEDULE for your team's assigned photo session. Order forms will be mailed to the coaches, who will distribute them before your photo session.

UPCOMING EVENTS: WINTER CLASSIC
As a part of the growing trend of outdoor hockey games, the Rec League will once again feature some outdoor Winter Classic games. Winter Classic games will be included as part of the regular season schedule. The Rec League will contact coaches whose teams will be playing in these games, and the games will also be added to the team’s schedule on the Rec League website. If you have any questions about the Winter Classic, please contact your coach or Marketing & Promotions Director Valeria Lindberg.

UPCOMING EVENTS: YEAR-END FESTIVAL
The final event of our season is the Year-End Festival, with competitive game matchups, special giveaways & free pizza for players and their families. This year's festival is on April 14 at the Bloomington Ice Garden. More details will be posted when the date is closer.

Thanks for your participation in the Rec League. If you have any questions, please contact us HERE. See you at the rink!
