Two USA Hockey Coaching Education Program (CEP) High Performance Bronze Level Goaltender Development Clinics, designed to teach youth hockey coaches of all skill levels how to effectively work with and develop goalies, have been scheduled in Minnesota this fall.

The clinics are scheduled for back-to-back days on September 29-30 in Moorhead and Brooklyn Park. On Saturday, the clinic in Moorhead will begin at 9:00 am and will be held at the recently renovated and renamed Cullen Hockey Center (formerly Moorhead Youth Hockey Arena). The next day, another clinic will be held at 12:30 pm at Brooklyn Park Community Center.

Each clinic will include classroom discussions plus on-ice sessions. Coaches will learn about and have opportunity to try various goalie-specific skating movements.  They will also help develop a goalie-specific practice plan and assist with running of an on-ice goalie development session with local goalies. Coaches should bring skates, gloves, stick and helmet.

Minnesota Hockey Goalie Development Coordinator, Steve Carroll, will lead both clinics. Carroll has played a key role in the goaltender development and coach education in Minnesota for over a decade and has represented the state as a part of USA Hockey’s Goalie Development Program since the launch of their 51 in 30 campaign.

USA HOCKEY CERTIFICATION:

Youth hockey coaches can move up a level in their CEP certification by attending one of these clinics. For example, a Level 1 coach can move to Level 2, a Level 2 can move to Level 3, a Level 3 can be re-certified. Attending one of these clinics will have no impact on a coach looking to earn their Level 1 or Level 4 certification.  Coaches must attend entire clinic. Pre-registration is required. Cost is $60 and includes meal.

Clinics are limited to 50 coaches. If you have questions, contact Steve Carroll at scarroll@minnesotahockey.org or 612-703-2449.
