Registration Deadline is Monday, September 3rd

Registration for the 2018 Hockey Director Conference, which will be held September 7-9 at the Comfort Inn in Plymouth, MN, is now open.  The conference, which is designed for hockey directors and player development leaders in youth hockey associations, will provide in-depth training on the techniques and principles that guide world class hockey development programs.

The conference’s agenda will be based on USA Hockey’s annual four-day hockey director training program at the North American Rink Conference and Expo (NARCE) in Columbus, OH.  The NARCE event is regarded as one of the top training opportunities for hockey directors in the U.S. and has played a key role in elevating the quality of player development programs and initiatives across the country.

“Bringing this event to Minnesota and making it more accessible for our local leaders has been a goal of mine for several years,” said Dave Margenau, Minnesota Hockey President. “The conference is a unique opportunity for our hockey skill development leaders to learn from experts as to what others are doing in the world based on the science of athlete development and learn from each other as to what other Minnesota associations are doing.”

USA Hockey’s American Development Model team, including two former Division I coaches and two-time Olympian Guy Gosselin, will lead participants through on-ice demonstrations, group discussions and presentations starting the evening Friday, September 7 and concluding early Sunday afternoon. Key topics will include understanding & capitalizing on long term athlete development principles, how to successfully implement the ADM, practice planning, teaching body contact and body-checking and much more.

The Hockey Director Conference will also serve as a USA Hockey High Performance Coaching Education Program clinic. Attendees will receive a one level upgrade for CEP certification up to a Level 4.
