SKY BLUE ALLOWS ITS FIRST GOAL AGAINST BUT REMAINS UNDEFEATED

With a flick of the wrist it was in, and Peyton Hemp (Andover) celebrated in the corner with her teammates. Not only did she give Green a 1-0 lead over Sky Blue just over seven minutes in to the opening frame, she became the first player to score on the team that had previously outscored its opponents 9-0.

Despite the early lead, Sky Blue powered back, responding with two goals in the span of 17 seconds from Carley Lancaster (Farmington) and Hanna Baskin (Minnetonka) to end the period with a 2-1 lead.

Sadie Lindsay (Breck) knotted the game to open the scoring in the second period. But once again Sky Blue charged back with two responding goals coming from Mikayla Kelley (Eastview) and Ava Nygaard (Rosemount) to earn the 4-2 win and improve to a 3-0 record.

WHITE SHUTS OUT RED

It was an even battle in the first stanza. A scoreless period with 11 shots for Red and 12 shots for White, but no scoring -- until the second.

McKenna Freerksen (Dodge County) took a pass off a won face off draw by Mackenzie McMillan (Holy Family) for the game's first goal just 35 seconds into the final frame. Next Katie Helgesson (Roseau). Next Anna Fabel (Hutchinson) hammered home a rebound to make it 3-0 before Helgesson added her second of the night. Jenna Lawry (Chicago Lakes) tacked on the fifth and final goal with 30 seconds remaining to seal the victory for White.

Brooke Cassibo (Maple Grove) and Maria Widen (Burnsville) each stopped 11 shots for the shutout.

THREE FIRST PERIOD GOALS SEAL THE WIN FOR GOLD

It only took 36 seconds for Gold to hop on the board first in the day's final game.

Mckenzie Rich (Benilde-St. Margarets) picked up the loose puck and combined for a tic-tac-toe play with Kayley Crawford (Minnetonka) and Emily Cronkhite (Eagan), who eventually buried the puck for the early lead.

Less than two minutes later Sadie Long (Holy Family) increased Gold's lead to 2-0. Rich tallied her second point with a shot that squeezed through between the post three minutes later to make it 3-0.

A shutout defense and some staunch play from Gold goaltender Jori Jones (Roseville) in the final frame helped hold the shutout win.
