Minnesota Seniors is the 2018 CCM NIT champion.

After rolling through pool play, outscoring competition 55-5, Minnesota Seniors seemed quiet through the first period of Sunday's Girls National Invitational Tournament championship game against Wisconsin.

All the Seniors need was some adversity. While on the penalty kill, Samantha Burke (St. Paul United) gathered the puck, cut through the slot and sniped a shot top shelf for the game-opening goal.

Minnesota Seniors rolled from there, scoring five more goals unanswered en route to a 9-1 victory over Wisconsin.

The Seniors, 12 hours removed from beating Wisconsin 10-3 in the final round of pool play, were steadfast after Burke's game-breaking goal.

Paetyn Levis (Rogers) and Ms. Hockey winner Taylor Heise (Red Wing) netted shorthanded goals to begin the middle period. Abigail Boreen (Hill-Murray) assisted Levis' goal four minutes in, and assisted Heise's second goal with 57 seconds left in the second period. She finished with four assists, while Alexa Dobchuk (Eden Prairie) sustained a 16-save shutout through the first half of the game as the Seniors held a 6-0 lead entering the final period.

Wisconsin Ms. Hockey winner Abigail Stow (Eau Claire Memorial) found the back of net for Wisconsin's lone goal. She finished the tournament with seven goals and six assists as Wisconsin's leading skater.

Heise posted a tournament-high 18 points.
