District 6 – 13, District 16 – 3

An eight-goal first half paved the way for District 6 as it picked up its second win of the weekend. Joseph Sorenson (Minnetonka) got things going less than a minute into the game. From there, five different District 6 players tallied goals in the opening frame, including Jackson Borst (Edina), who added two goals in the half. The scoring continued in the second half for Section 6 as Trey Fechko (Holy Family) added his second and third goals of the game early in the half. District 16 did score three goals in the second half as Blake Biermaier (Thief River Falls) and Kole Chupka (East Grand Forks) and Paul Huglen (Roseau) got their team on the board. District 6 won behind a combined 12 saves from Jack Stark (Chaska/Chanhassen) and Trevor Boschee (Prior Lake). Wyatt Olsonawski (Kittson County) and Jack Orchard (Warroad) made 34 saves for District 16.

District 2 – 6, District 15 – 2

After falling behind 1-0 early, District 2 responded quickly as it defeated District 15, 6-2. Josiah Gronholz (Alexandria) got the scoring going and gave District 15 a one-goal lead. For the rest of the first half, District 2 took over as Hunter Johnson (Forest Lake), Bjorn Anderson (Roseville0 and Henry Lawrence (Stillwater) all tallied goals to give District 2 a 3-1 lead heading into halftime. In the second half, District 15 got within a goal thanks to Haden Kruse (Brainerd). From there, District 2 extended its lead as Joseph Frattalone (White Bear Lake) scored to make it 4-2. Later in the half, District 2 would extend its lead thanks to Nathan Hardy (Hill-Murray) and Lawrence, who each scored 13 seconds apart to break the game open. District 2 allowed just a pair of goals behind netminders Jack Cashin (Gentry Academy) and Croix Kochendorfer (St. Paul Capitals), who stopped 15 shots in the win. Adler Hoagland (Northern Lakes) and Evan Myran (Moorhead) made 36 stops for District 15.

District 3 – 3, District 12 – 0

This was a low-scoring affair as District 3 held District 12 off the scoreboard and earned a 3-0 win. District 3’s lone goal in the first half came from Justin Janicke (Maple Grove) early in the period. In the second half, District 3 continued to build on its lead as Kohl Sauer (Wayzata) made it 2-0. Thirty seconds later, William Matzke (Blake) added to the District 3 lead. District 12 could not scratch the scoresheet as District 3 goaltenders Grayson Wong (Wayzata) and Jack Wieneke (Maple Grove) pitched a shutout while combining for 11 saves. Max Marcotte and Mitchell Nemec (International Falls) stopped 34 shots for District 12.

District 8 – 4, District 10 – 2

After taking a 3-0 lead into the intermission, District 8 rolled as it defeated District 10. The three-goal half for District 8 was started by Noah Griswold (Holy Angels). Connor Mahony (Shattuck-St. Mary’s) and Zach Bade (Rosemount) would add to the District 8 lead to round out of the first-half scoring. In the second half, District 10’s rally came thanks to goals from Henry Bartle (Centennial) and Blake Johnson (Elk River). That was all District 10 could get, though. District 8 added some insurance in the second half when Bennett Schimek (Gentry Academy) made it 4-2. District 8 picked up the win thanks to a combined 26 saves from Matt Syverson (Holy Angels) and Tyler McCarville (Hastings). Spencer White (St. Francis) and William Larson (Totino-Grace) combined for 32 saves.

District 5 – 3, District 4 – 3

Our first tie of the weekend came as District 4 and District 5 battled in a back-and-forth affair. District 5 struck first in the opening half as Noah Mueller (Buffalo) opened the scoring early in the half. District 4 would score twice in the half thanks to goals by Noah Wilmes (New Ulm/Sleepy Eye) and Leo Gruba (Johnson Como-North St. Paul). Late in the first half, Gavin Brooks (Monticello/Maple Lake) tied the game at two entering halftime. The two teams battled in the second half. Mueller once again scored the opening goal of the half to give District 5 a brief lead. Then, Jace Addy (New Ulm/Sleepy Eye) got the equalizer. Neither team could score from there. District 5 earned the tie behind a combined 14 saves from Travis Olson (Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato) and Quentin Sigurdson (Sioux Falls). Joseph Gag (New Ulm/Sleepy Eye) and Hobie Hedquist (Sioux Falls) stopped 29 shots for District 4.

District 9 – 4, District 11 – 2

District 9 picked up its first win of the weekend after getting out to a 2-0 lead in this game. Blake Ulve (Albert Lea) and Isaiah Vanryswyk (Albert Lea) tallied goals for District 9 in the first. With 15 seconds left in the first half, District 11 got a boost heading into the break as Gavin Blomdahl (Hermantown) scored to cut the lead to one. In the second half, the teams traded goals. Markus Dempewolf (Albert Lea) got things going for District 9. Michael Graves (Hermantown) would counter for District 11 before Layton Liffrig (Mankato East) gave District 9 a two-goal lead for good. District 11 netminders David Rutka (Hermantown) and Jacob Walsh (Cloquet) combined to make 18 saves while Riley Madsen (Mankato East) and Payton Mancuso (Winona) stopped 27 shots for District 9.
