The Minnesota Wild, in partnership with Minnesota Hockey and the National Sports Center, today announced it will host the 2017 Mite Fall Jamboree presented by Xcel Energy on Sept. 15-17 at National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn. Boys and girls teams from across the State of Hockey are invited to participate in this event.
"After the tremendous success of the inaugural Wild Mite Holiday Jamboree in December, we are thrilled to work with the Wild and the National Sports Center on this event," said Minnesota Hockey Executive Director Glen Andresen. "It will be a great way for our youngest players to come together at the beginning of the season to play with kids in their community, work on skill development and get ready for a fun-filled 2017-2018 season. We want to thank the Wild and the National Sports Center for their commitment to promoting small area games for our Mites."
Registration for the jamboree is open to a total of 80 boys and girls youth teams age 8 & Under. Age 6 & Under and Mini-Mite teams are not eligible. Each team will consist of 10 players (multiple teams per association will be accepted). Participating teams will practice with Minnesota Hockey and Association coaches using the Minnesota Development Model (MDM) and play four, 30-minute half-ice games. Each participating player will receive a Minnesota Wild jersey and entry to a complimentary barbecue following the event. The team fee to participate in the tournament is $750.
"This will be one of the best mite hockey experiences of the year," said National Sports Center Senior Director of Operations and Programming Pete Carlson. "Lots of fun practicing and playing games and on top of that each player will be in a Minnesota Wild Jersey. I can't wait to see the players as they come to the rink for this event."
In addition, discounted single game tickets will be made available to Mite Fall Jamboree participants and families for each of the following Minnesota Wild preseason games: Thursday, Sept. 21 vs. Winnipeg Jets (7 p.m.) and Saturday, Sept. 30 vs. Dallas Stars (7 p.m.).
