The Minnesota District of USA Hockey announced today the appointment of Travis Johnson (Hastings, Minn.) as District Risk Manager. Johnson officially assumed his duties this week and will attend his first Minnesota Hockey meeting this weekend in St. Louis Park, Minn.

Johnson joins the Minnesota District with extensive experience in the field including more than 20 years in the insurance industry. He also has a background in youth hockey. Johnson has two sons playing for the Woodbury Area Hockey Club (WAHC), and he spent time serving on the WAHC board as the Vice President of Hockey Operations.

“We are fortunate to have someone with Travis’ expertise to fill this important position,” said Dave Margenau, President of Minnesota Hockey. “While our board will always remember the leadership and passion of Bruce Kruger, we look forward to having Travis join our hockey family and know he will play a critical role in continuing to provide a safe and positive environment for all of our participants.”

As Risk Manager for USA Hockey’s Minnesota District, Johnson will take the lead on communicating information to participants, coaches, officials, spectators and administrators regarding USA Hockey insurance programs, risk management, injury reporting and claim filing. Johnson will also attend Minnesota Hockey and participate in USA Hockey meetings as a member of USA Hockey’s Risk Managers Committee.
