West 16U continued its undefeated streak winning all 3 games this weekend in Moorhead going 4-0-2 over its last six games.  John Simon from Holy Family led the way with six points including a hat-trick in each of the first two games. Other points leaders for the weekend included Chanhassen’s Jack Haley with 4 points (2 goals & 2 assists), Orono’s Jack Suchy (1 goal & 3 assists), Armstrong’s Riley Enderle with 3 points (3 goals), and Monticello’s Tory Dahlheimer with 3 points (2 goals & 1 assist).

In the first game vs. Northwest 18U, West 16U started with a punch going up 3-0 to start. John Simon opened the scoring with an assist from Luverne’s Jim Erickson and then quickly followed with his second goal unassisted.  Jack Suchy scored the third goal before NW18U brought them within 2 down 3-1.  Riley Enderle then scored the fourth goal, burying a nice pass out front by Jack Haley.  John Simon followed with his 3rd of the game on a beautiful pass from Orono’s Fisher Eiss.  Benilde’s Alex Webert finished the scoring, assisted by Jack Suchy to end the game with West 16U victorious at 6-1.

The second game vs. Metro Southwest 16U started closer with West 16U going down 1-0 before Riley Enderle tied with an assist from Jack Suchy.  John Simon put West 16U up 3-1 with two back to back goals, assisted by Jack Haley and Jim Erickson respectively. Metro Southwest 16U scored to make it 3-2 before Troy Dahlheimer put West 16U up by three with two consecutive goals, one assisted by Jack Suchy and the other a perfect pass from Orono’s Landon Wittenberg on a two-on-one. Jack Haley scored an empty netter for the 6th goal and John Simon completed his hat trick to finish the game with West 16U winning 7-2.

While the first two games were mostly all offense, the third game vs. Central 16U was mostly all defense and goaltending with West 16U’s two goalies earning their first shared shut-out of the season winning 2-0. Jack Cusey from Mankato East started the game, making save after save including a few amazing ones, with Central 16U putting West 16U on its heels.  Wayzata’s Sawyer Anderson followed with equaling brilliance repelling every shot faced.  West 16U’s defensive core was also solid, limiting quality chances and clearing the puck in front of the net on numerous occasions. Riley Enderle finally broke the 0-0 deadlock with just 5 minutes left to play with a laser upper corner shot converting a nice stretch pass from Troy Dahlheimer.  Jack Haley sealed the victory with another empty net goal with 20 seconds remaining to finish West 16U winning 2-0.
