State of Hockey to Host Coaching Summit

Top NHL and NCAA coaches to be featured as speakers!

The State of Hockey and the Minnesota Wild, in partnership with Minnesota Hockey, USA Hockey and the Minnesota Hockey Coaches Association, are set to host a High Performance Coaching Summit on September 23-24 in St. Paul, MN.  

This new event will bring together the top coaching professionals for a two-day coaching instruction and certification summit at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium on the Xcel Energy Center campus in St. Paul. Coaching certification will be available for Levels 1, 2 and 3. Youth through collegiate coaches are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Confirmed NHL and NCAA Division I speakers for the State of Hockey High Performance Coaching Summit include Chuck Fletcher, Bruce Boudreau, Don Lucia, Mike Hastings, Bob Motzko, Scott Sandelin, Tom Serratore, Brad Berry and Tony Granato. In addition, USA Hockey ADM Managers Roger Grillo and Phil Osaer (Goaltending Manager) will provide youth coaches with insight on age-appropriate player development.

The clinic will open registration and check-in at Noon on Friday, September 23, with the first speakers starting at 1:00 p.m. The summit will include a social and dinner on Friday night before closing at approximately 7:30 p.m. and reconvening at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. The final presentations are scheduled to conclude at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Coaches intending to get USA Hockey Level 1, 2 or 3 certification must be registered with USA Hockey for the 2016-17 season, attend both days of the clinic and bring  equipment (skates, stick, gloves, and helmet) for an on-ice session on Saturday.
