Minnesota Hockey has announced that 60 girls have been selected to attend the 2016 USA Hockey Girls Under-18 National Player Development Camps.  The top girls’ hockey players were selected to represent Minnesota following their performances at the CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance Final 54 Festivals held at Braemar Arena in Edina.

“We’re excited to announce the players that will be representing Minnesota at the national camps this summer,” said High Performance Director, Mike MacMillan. “This is a great moment in each of their young careers. It will be an opportunity for them to train with and against the best players in the country.”

The girls selected will take part in one of two USA Hockey player development camps this summer. The Girls’ U18 Select 66 Camp will be held on June 24-30 in Biddeford, Maine and the Girls’ U18 Player Development Camp will take place in St. Cloud, Minnesota on July 9-15.

29 Minnesotans have been chosen to participate in the Select 66 camp, already surpassing last year’s total of 28, with several spots still being determined. The selectees include 14 players who participated in last year’s Select 66 camp and nine girls who played on the 2016 U.S. Women’s National U18 Team which won a gold medal.

USA Hockey’s Girls U18 Player Development Camp in St. Cloud will feature at least 31 participants from its host state. The participants will come from 25 different communities, spanning Roseau over to Hibbing-Chisholm and down to Lakeville.

Based on USA Hockey’s camp selection and notification process, there’s still a chance additional girls from Minnesota will be named to each of the camps. For a detailed description of the national process, click here.

The CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance Programs are conducted in conjunction with USA Hockey and are referred to as “Select” programs in other parts of the country. The national festivals/camps are used by USA Hockey to identify the top performers in each age group for possible opportunities to represent the U.S.A. at advanced levels of national and international hockey competition.
