Minnesota Hockey is excited to announce the upcoming schedule of its interactive social media program, High Performance Hockey Insights. Last season, the #HockeyInsights campaign generated thousands of engagements between our youth hockey members and some of hockey’s brightest minds on Facebook and Twitter.

High Performance Hockey Insights kicked off the 2015-16 season on Monday, October 26th with a Q&A session with USA Hockey National Coach-in-Chief and CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance Director Mike MacMillan.  Popular topics included how youth hockey associations can promote player development, player evaluations and the prevalence of Minnesota born defensemen in the NHL.

In the coming sessions, the High Performance Hockey Insights program will provide opportunities to interact with some of the best coaches and players from the State of Hockey. Each hockey expert will spend one hour answering questions on a Monday night and be featured in a short video with additional player development information on Facebook later that week.

“Parents all want the same thing for the player - the best development experience possible,” said MacMillan. “The problem is there is way too much information to sort through it all, and much of it is misguided!  With all of this noise, as I like to call it, parents and players miss out on what they are actually looking for. Think of this as a chance to educate yourself on doing it right, not just doing it.”

Players and parents can submit questions for the following sessions of High Performance Hockey Insights at any time by email or on Twitter by tweeting @MinnHockey and using #HockeyInsights.

  • November 23rd - Guy Gosselin, Regional ADM Manager, USA Hockey
  • December 6th - Christian Koelling, Coach-in-Chief, Minnesota Hockey
  • December 21st – Mike Snee, Director of College Hockey, Inc.
  • January 4th – Steve Carroll, Director of Minnesota Hockey’s Dave Peterson Goalie Camp
  • January 18th – Joey Benik, St. Cloud State University Men’s Hockey, St. Francis native
  • February 1st – Lee Stecklein and/or Hannah Brandt, University of Minnesota Women’s Hockey
