11th Annual CCM High Performance Dave Peterson Goalie Camp Starts Today!

Fifty of the state’s top high school goalies will be at Augsburg College, Aug. 6-9, for Minnesota Hockey’s 11th Dave Peterson CCM High Performance Goalie Camp.

The four-day goalie development program is designed to improve the individual skills, techniques, confidence and consistency of boys and girls in the 15-to 18-year-old age group.

The goalies were invited to participate based on their play in the spring's USA Hockey/Minnesota Hockey CCM High Performance festivals.

“It’s extremely important we provide high-level skill development opportunities for boys and girls in this age group,” explained Steve Carroll, camp director. “These are highly motivated athletes who are determined to improve their skills and overall game so they can help their high school teams achieve success. Many of the participants also have set their sights on playing college hockey.”

The camp provides the goalies with an opportunity to learn the latest techniques and strategies from a combination of Minnesota’s most well-respected and talented college and high school goalie coaches.

Coaches helping this year include Mitch Baker, Rebecca Baker, Steve Carroll, Terry Dvorak, Kevin Galbraith, Ken Hilgert, Steve Houge, Justin Johnson, Andrew Kent, Doug Long, Bill Manual, Mike Moline, Greg Moore, Tom Peart,  Jeff Polski, Noora Raty, Pete Samargia,  Sanya Sandahl.

Current Minnesota goalies from NCAA Division I and Division III schools are serving as on-ice demonstrators/counselors. That group includes Nick Lehr, Roseville, University of Minnesota; Anders Franke, Elk River, St. John’s University; Alex LaMere, Albertville, Ohio State University; Amanda Koep, St. Michael, Gustavus Adolphus College.

Goalies get 12 hours of on-ice training and about 12 hours of off-ice instruction.

The off-ice topics include sports performance training, equipment seminar, video analysis, hockey after high school, vision training and goalie yoga.
