The Heart of the State of Hockey

This is the time of year we have all been waiting for. The leaves are turning colors, the temperature is dropping and the calendar has turned to October. It’s hockey season!

As our local youth teams, favorite college programs and the Minnesota Wild ramp up their season, it’s important to remember what really keeps the State of Hockey running – our volunteers! The widespread passion for hockey in this state and people’s willingness to donate their time to our community hockey programs is what makes Minnesota a leader in hockey at all levels.

Every year volunteers selflessly dedicate their time and energy to ensure the success of our community-based youth hockey associations. Ice Scheduler, Team Manager, Tournament Director, Recruiting Chairperson….the list is endless!

Total Hockey has been an ardent supporter of Minnesota’s community-based hockey model and dedicated volunteer base since 2010.  Each year Total Hockey recognizes five volunteers for their efforts through the Total Hockey Volunteer of the Month. Last season, we recognized volunteers that filled important roles in SafeSport, membership development, concessions, scholarships and team managers or level coordinators from Mites/8U all the way up to Junior Gold.

“We honor those volunteers who are role models for our kids; working tirelessly to give them the tools to be the best on the ice and in their community,” says Katy Benoit of Total Hockey.  “When Minnesota players are thinking about who to thank for their love of the game, we know it is the volunteers who stand out. Thank you!”

Join us in recognizing one of your local volunteers as the Total Hockey Volunteer of the Month.  Winners will receive a certificate recognizing their hard work and a $100 Total Hockey gift card to use online or in the store. Each Volunteer of the Month will also be featured in the Minnesota Hockey Newsletter, Let’s Play Hockey and on the Minnesota Hockey website. Nominators will receive a $50 Total Hockey gift card.
