Park Dental supports community hockey through Minnesota Hockey's Hockey Education Program (HEP)

In 1969, two aspiring young dentists, Dr. Gregory Swenson and Dr. Brian “Bud” Murn, met at a dental conference and found they shared a strong vision for how a group practice—compared to their individual solo practices—could best bring consistent, high-quality, affordable dental care to just about anybody within the community. They dreamed, planned and ultimately opened Brookpark Dental Center in 1972 with the equivalent of three full-time dentists, three assistants, three hygienists and a support staff of five. Little did Drs. Swenson and Murn know how their vision and aspirations would grow to what Park Dental is today.

From the beginning, Drs. Swenson and Murn saw a dual purpose for their new practice. First, to provide quality dental care characterized by competence and skill, combined with genuine concern for their patients’ well being throughout their lifetime. And second, to be a significant part of a community—to be a valued resource within a place and its economy.

These values continued to inform and define the group as it grew throughout the 1980s and beyond to its current total of 37 general practice locations throughout the Twin Cities and western Wisconsin. Today, Park Dental’s primary focus is on maintaining its patients’ oral health.

The dental group provides:

  • Preventative dental care for infants, children, adults and seniors.
  • Comprehensive dentistry including restorative and cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery, sedation dentistry, root canals, crowns, bridges, dentures, emergency care and more.
  • Specialty care referrals as needed at trusted orthodontists, pediatric dentists, oral surgeons, periodontists, endodontists and prosthodontists.

Park Dental’s focus on community also remains rock solid to this day. The dental group is an avid supporter of amateur sports, including organizations such as Minnesota Hockey, several of the state’s high school sports championships and dozens of local high school athletic programs. This support also branches off into public television, many health-related charities and a multitude of community events and organizations.

The ideals at Park Dental remain as strong today as yesterday and continue to be a major thread through the group’s mission, vision and values. Park Dental is a patient-centered, prevention-focused group practice, which is why patients can always be assured their dental health is a top priority.
