Congratulations to Sean Cunningham of Johnson Como Hockey Association (JCHA)! Sean has been selected as the Total Hockey Volunteer of the Month in recognition of his efforts as the Mite Coordinator at JCHA.

As the Mite Coordinator, Sean donates his time in a variety of different ways. He does everything from helping secure ice times to monitoring and guiding player development and educating new hockey parents on proper equipment or the basics of the game. Sean also plays a key role in maintaining the association’s outdoor ice sheet which allows kids to play the type of pick-up games that have always been a hallmark of hockey here in Minnesota.

Perhaps more importantly, Sean makes an impact on everyone he comes into contact with by bringing an upbeat attitude to the rink every day. Regardless of the type of question or concern, he is happy to help and quick to respond, making everyone’s day a little easier and more enjoyable.

“He is there because he wants to give back to the community that he feels so strongly about and because he believes that something as simple as playing hockey makes a difference in a child’s life,” said Tanya Pelletier, a mother of three Mites at JCHA. “Sean is more than a volunteer. He keeps the Mite program at our association together, year round, year after year.”

There’s no doubt the numerous hours Sean has spent at the rink has resulted in countless life lessons for the players at JCHA, and that is just one of many reasons we are proud to honor Sean as our first Total Hockey Volunteer of the Month this season. Thank you for everything you have done for youth hockey in Minnesota!

Do you know someone that should be considered for the Total Hockey Volunteer of the Month?  If so, please nominate him or her today!  One volunteer will be featured each month.  That volunteer will also receive a $50 Total Hockey gift card.  In addition, five sets of starter hockey gear will be contributed in his/her name to their association, courtesy of Total Hockey.
