The Mesabi East Youth Hockey Association identified a need to raise money to support their program this season. So, they decided to turn to Schwan’s Cares™ – a unique online fundraising solution from Schwan’s Home Service that eliminates the frustrations that come with most traditional money-raising methods.
Mesabi East Youth Hockey Association (MEYHA) is a small program consisting of approximately 70 players. They work to raise funds each year for ice time, referees, equipment, etc. In order to achieve this, they set a fundraising goal of $1,000, which they proceeded to reach within the first two weeks of their Schwan’s Cares™ fundraising campaign. Now, less than two months after the start of their fundraising campaign, their program has raised in excess of 150% of their goal.
“As the Fundraising Coordinator for our hockey association, I have coordinated a wide variety of fundraisers; everything from selling candy bars to putting on pancake breakfasts,” said Nikki Swanson of MEYHA. “I would say that this is the easiest fundraising program I have ever experienced, hands down.”
The Mesabi East Youth Hockey Association has greatly exceeded their goal, and they are well on their way to raising more funds than expected.
“Our supporters have responded very positively towards the program,” added Swanson. “The campaign set up was easy, and the food is great.”
Hockey is unique as it is able to help players grow as people and as athletes. Schwan’s Cares is there to help support communities so that all kids have the opportunity to play the great game of hockey without having to focus on the costs associated with playing the sport.
The Schwan’s Cares™ fundraising program helps more than just hockey programs. It enables community members to support all of their favorite causes — such as local youth sports teams, non-profit groups, church projects, schools and other community organizations — with a seamless, 100 percent online fundraising program.
Schwan’s Cares is the official fundraising partner of USA Hockey, the Minnesota Wild and the National Sports Center.
