Thank you Prairie Island Indian Community for you continued support of youth and disabled hockey in Minnesota!

The Prairie Island Indian Community was recognized during the Minnesota Wild home game on October 24th for their continued support of the youth and disabled hockey programs in Minnesota.

The Prairie Island Indian Community has long been a tremendous supporter of youth hockey throughout Minnesota.  They have been involved with program sales at Minnesota Wild games since the 2008-09 season and have made generous donations to Minnesota Disabled Hockey each of the past four years.

“Minnesota Disabled Hockey is proud to have the amazing support of the Prairie Island Indian Community,” said Toni Gillen, Director of Disabled Hockey for Minnesota Hockey.  “Prairie Island has been with us from the beginning and through their generosity we have grown to become the largest disabled hockey program in the country.  Prairie Island has made it possible for people of all abilities in the State of Minnesota to play the game they love.”

“It has been our belief that young people gain valuable life skills and leadership abilities by participating in youth sports and hockey,” said Johnny Johnson, President of the Prairie Island Indian Community Tribal Council. “The fact that Prairie Island was able to help establish a solid foundation for Minnesota Disabled Hockey to grow into one of the most inclusive programs in the US, is proof that there is a great need for such programs.”

Prairie Island Indian Community continues to play a major role in making it possible for every person in Minnesota, regardless of disability, to play hockey. Thank you for assuring that hockey in Minnesota is for everyBODY!

Since 1994, the Prairie Island Indian Community, a federally recognized Indian Nation, has donated more than $16 million to a variety of civic and non-profit organizations. The Prairie Island Indian Community owns and operates Treasure Island Resort & Casino, located just south of Hastings, Minn. For more information, visit www.prairieisland.org.
