As the 2012-13 season draws to an end, it is time to begin planning for next season’s recruiting efforts.  To assist with the planning, Minnesota Hockey is conducting six “Growth Workshops” the weekend of April 11th – 14th.  We are inviting association Growth Coordinators and/or Presidents to participate in the Growth Workshop to learn about exciting programs for next season and share ideas of what they have been doing to get more kids playing our great game.

The workshops are scheduled:

Thursday, April 11th, 7:00 – 9:30 PM, in Mankato at All Seasons Arena

Friday, April 12th, 7:00 – 9:30 PM, in Eagan at Eagan Civic Arena

Saturday, April 13th, 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM, at Clyde Iron Restaurant next to Duluth Heritage Sports Center

Saturday, April 13th, 4:00 – 6:30 PM, in Bemidji at Bemidji Community Arena

Sunday, April 14th, 12:00 – 2:30 PM, in Alexandria at Arrowwood Resort

Sunday, April 14th, 5:00 – 7:30 PM, in Brooklyn Park at Brooklyn Park Community Activity Center

The base of Mite and 8 & Under Girls and younger players has declined slightly the past two years after four years of growth. However, with the Minnesota Wild back playing, the success of the Minnesota collegiate teams and the Winter Olympics in February 2014, we have an exciting opportunity to introduce new players to the game during the 2013-14 season.  Additionally, the widespread adoption of ADM Red White and Blue Hockey will improve the retention of new players as they are having fun and learning the skill to play the game.

The workshop agenda will include valuable information about Minnesota Hockey and USA Hockey growth programs as well as the opportunity to learn what other associations in your area are doing to get more kids playing the game.  There will be exciting door prizes, including 5 sets of starter gear, to be awarded to attendees at each of the workshops.

Please RSVP your intentions to attend to Derek Ricke at dricke@minnesotahockey.org.

I look forward to meeting with you at a workshop.
