The deadline for applications is February 28, 2013.

There is less than two weeks left to fill out your Gear Up Minnesota! application.  Equipment grants from Gear Up Minnesota! have been used by associations across the state to attract new players and make hockey more accessible.  To be eligible to receive a grant next fall, associations must apply by February 28th.

Gear Up Minnesota! – a joint effort between Minnesota Hockey, Total Hockey and the Minnesota Wild Foundation – awarded starter hockey equipment grants to 39 community youth hockey associations in Minnesota last year. More than $130,000 in equipment was provided to youth hockey families and associations in Minnesota.

Apply now and let us know what your association has done or is doing to earn a Gear Up Minnesota! grant.  It can be a novel concept that has never been done before or a program that worked really well at another association.  What matters is whatever it takes to get more boys and girls involved in hockey.

Worried about not having enough time? Our application process is online, eliminating the hassle of paperwork. We know our community associations are filled with volunteers, not professional grant writers, so the application is concise and clear-cut.  Simply answer four questions by providing details on why your association deserves a grant and what you will do with it.

Applications should:
• Be detailed and specific
• Display creativity and ingenuity in how the grant will be used
• Demonstrate how the grant will act as a supportive piece of an overall growth plan
• Show a track record of effort and success in using grants to grow the game

Thank you to the Minnesota Wild Foundation, Total Hockey, Fruchi, West Bend Insurance, Subway and our other partners for your involvement with Gear Up Minnesota!  Without your support, Gear Up Minnesota! and the number of new hockey players it has produced wouldn’t be possible.
