App provides coaches with mobile access to drill diagrams, instructional videos, complete practice plans, and much more

USA Hockey has released Mobile Coach, a free application for mobile devices running on Apple iOS or Google Android and an exclusive benefit available only to USA Hockey members.

“We developed USA Hockey Mobile Coach to provide the vast array of education material we have available in an easy-to-use mobile format,” said Mark Tabrum, director of USA Hockey’s coaching education program. “We’ve long been a leader in coaching education and this is a reflection of our desire to continue to be out in front and use technology to help in the education process.”

USA Hockey Mobile Coach includes complete practice plans, small-area games, dryland training exercises, goaltending-specific drills and videos, body contact instructional videos, and skating, shooting, and passing drill diagrams and videos.  The application also includes digital versions of the USA Hockey Playing Rules and Casebook, Annual Guide, and American Development Model materials.

All of the educational materials within the app can be directly shared with other coaches, players, and parents also using the app via self-contained social networking and email functions. Additionally available is a desktop computer companion that enables users to create custom practice plans that synchronize to a mobile device and can then be shared with other app users.

The Android version works on all supported phones and tablets.  The iOS version works on both iPhones and iPads.  Later this year, an iPad-specific version of the app will be released with a virtual whiteboard mode with the capability to showcase videos and screenshots while remaining in whiteboard mode.
