2 v 2 with Shooters

Summary

This week's Drill of the Week comes from Bemidji State Women's Head Coach, Amber Fryklund. Coach Fryklund shares a drill that focuses on battling for the puck and shooting with traffic in front of the net.

DESCRIPTION

  • The drill starts with a 2 v 2 below the tops of the circles. Coach dumps the puck in.
  • On change of possession, you have to pass to your shooter who is at the top of the circle.
  • The shooter can shoot or shoot for a stick/deflection. The shooter cannot pass. 
  • If the puck goes out of play, coach will put a new puck in.
  • Point System

Goal = 1 point

Tip/Deflection/Screen/Rebound goal = 2 points

Block = 1 Point

Offensively

  • Net front play.
  • Tips/Screens/Rebounds.
  • Quick transition from defense to offense.
  • Play away from puck.

Defensively

  • Boxing out.
  • Picking up shots.
  • Clearing pucks.
  • Blocking shots.
  • Transitioning to offense.
