Minnesota District Tier I & Tier II Championships Set for This Weekend

Semifinal and Final Games at Plymouth Ice Center will be Streamed Live by MNHockey.Tv

St. Paul, MN – September 30, 2024 – The Minnesota Tier I and Tier II District playoffs for berths in the 2025 USA Hockey National Championships in April will kick off this weekend with semifinal action at the Plymouth Ice Center in Plymouth, Minn. Semifinal games for the Girls Tier II 14U and Youth Tier II 14U classifications will be held on Friday, October 4, and the Girls Tier I 14U, Youth Tier I 13O, Youth Tier I 14U and Youth Tier I 15O classifications will be held on Saturday, October 5, with championship games taking place on Sunday, October 6.

The champions at the Girls Tier I 14U level will move on to the National Tournament in Marlborough, Mass., April 1 – 6, 2025. The Youth Tier I 13O (Plymouth, Mich.), 14U (Plymouth, Mich.), and 15O (Madison, Wis.) levels will also play April 1 – 6, 2025. The Girls Tier II 14U National Tournament will be held in Coral Springs, Fla., April 2 – 6, 2025. The Youth Tier II 14U National Tournament will be held on the same dates in Kalamazoo, Mich. The Minnesota District semifinal games open Saturday at 10:00 a.m. All Minnesota District playoff games this weekend will be broadcast live by MNHockey.Tv and are available here.

Girls Tier I 14U – The Girls Tier I 14U semifinals will include the Lakers (District 6) as the number one seed. They will take on the Loons (District 2) in the first semifinal at 10:30 AM on Saturday on Rink C. The other semifinal matchup will feature the second-seeded Moose (District 8) against the third-seeded Green Giants (District 10) at 10:15 AM on Rink A on Saturday. The championship will be on Sunday at 10:15 AM on Rink A.

Girls Tier II 14U – The Girls Tier II 14U semifinals will include the Lakers (District 6) as the number one seed. They will take on the Loons (District 2) in the first semifinal at 6:00 PM on Friday on Rink A. The other semifinal matchup will feature the second-seeded Walleye (District 3) against the third-seeded Green Giants (District 10) at 6:15 PM on Rink C on Friday. The championship will be on Sunday at 10:30 AM on Rink C.

Youth Tier I 13O – The Youth Tier I 13O semifinals will include the Lakers (District 6) as the number one seed. They will take on the Green Giants (District 10) in the first semifinal at 12:15 PM on Saturday on Rink A. The other semifinal matchup will feature the second-seeded Loons (District 2) against the third-seeded Blue Ox (Districts 15 & 16) at 12:30 PM on Rink C on Saturday. The championship will be on Sunday at 4:30 PM on Rink C.

Youth Tier I 14U – The Youth Tier I 14U semifinals will feature the top three teams in the CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance Tier I Fall League Playoffs as well as Shattuck-St. Mary’s Prep School. The League playoff champion Blue Ox (Districts 15 and 16) will play the Voyageurs (Districts 11 and 12). The Loons (District 2) will draw Shattuck-St. Mary’s in the second game. The Blue Ox and Voyageurs play at 2:15 PM on Rink A, and the Loons and Shattuck-St. Mary’s play at 2:30 PM on Rink C on Saturday. The championship will be on Sunday at 12:15 PM on Rink A.

Youth Tier II 14U – The Youth Tier II 14U semifinals include the Green Giants (District 10), who won the League playoff, and will play the first semifinal against the Walleye (District 3). The second seed Loons Black (District 2) will square off against the third-seeded Moose (District 8) in the other semifinal. The Green Giants and Walleye matchup starts at 8:00 PM on Rink A, and the Loons Black and Moose matchup is set for 8:15 PM on Rink C on Friday. The championship will be on Sunday at 12:30 PM on Rink C.

Youth Tier I 15O – The Youth Tier I 15O semifinals will include three teams from the Tier I Fall League and Shattuck-St. Mary’s. The Loons (District 2) will face the Polars (Districts 4 and 5) in the opener. The Walleye (District 3) will meet Shattuck-St. Mary’s in the other semifinal. The Loons and Polars game starts at 4:15 PM on Rink A, and the Walleye and Shattuck game starts at 4:30 PM on Rink C on Saturday. The championship will be on Sunday at 2:30 PM on Rink C.

Minnesota Hockey will also host District playoffs at the Girls Tier I 16U and Girls Tier I 19U levels on October 22 at the St. Louis Park Rec Center. The Youth Tier I 16U Playoffs will take place at the St. Louis Park Rec Center on November 5. Shattuck-St. Mary’s will represent the Minnesota District at the Youth Tier I 18U classification.
