This new program aims to aid players, coaches, and families across the state who are searching for competitive skill development and will expand the CCM Fall Tier 1 league from 18U to 13O. As part of this pilot program launched by USA Hockey, this league will offer tryouts open to all Youth players with a 2010 birth year in the participating Districts.

This new level will be run in four Minnesota Hockey Districts this fall. The Districts participating will be the District 2 Loons, the District 5 Polars, the District 11 Voyageurs, and the District 12 Rangers. Tryouts for 13O Tier 1 will run primarily in conjunction with the District’s 14U tryouts. The winner of the 13O District Playoffs in October will represent Minnesota at the USA Hockey National Championships in Plymouth, Mich., April 2-7, 2024.

The 14U Tier 1 and Prospects teams will consist of 2009 birth years, with some 2010 birth years being asked to participate. The 13O Tier 1 teams will consist of only 2010 birth years. Districts may host another tryout for 13O players at a time to be determined to allow additional players the opportunity to tryout. Teams for 14U and 13O will be announced in July.

The cost of tryouts is $100 per player, and Districts will set their own season costs which covers the on-ice development as well as a jersey and socks. Registration for the program is done under the 14U Tier 1 registration and can be found here.

Following the 2023 season, Minnesota Hockey expects to expand this program to all Districts, as well as add a Girls 13O program in the future.
