Day 2 Recap: Girls 17U

Section 6 vs. Section 4

Section 6 and Section 4 played two very different halves of hockey this afternoon. The first half was a story of goal scoring with 6 combined tallies, while the second half saw no goals scored with 36 total saves.  

Section 6 prevailed in a 4-2 win, scoring led by Elizabeth Hamel (Benilde St. Margaret's) with a pair of goals. Josephine Arlowe (Blake) and Nicole Britz (Wayzata) tallied a goal each.

Gabriella Casa De Calvo (White Bear Lake) made 22 second half saves , and Josie St. Martin (Stillwater) and Victoria Nelson (Roseville/Mahtomedi) scored goals for Section 4.


Section 1 vs. Section 3

Section 1 out shoots Section 3, 32-8 as they cruise to a 5-0 win in our second game of the afternoon.

Ayla Puppe (Northfield) tallied a hat trick and two assists in the victory, and Grace McCoshen (Northfield) added a goal and two assists. Section 1 will face Section 6 in tomorrow's Consolation game.

Section 5 vs. Section 2

Girls 17U:  Jana Lesch (Bloomington Jefferson) scored a minute and a half into the game and Section 2 would hang on to that lead for 38 minutes.  With 8:30 left on the clock Zoe Lopez (Orono) ties the game and it would take a shoot out to find a winner in the Section 5 vs. Section 2 matchup tonight.  Shots on goal of 34-26 favored Section 5.

Alexa Niccum (Orono) scored in the shoot out to give Section 5 the 2-1 win. Madeleine Margraf (Chaska) tallied 18 first half saves for Section 2.


Section 7 vs. Section 8

Hailey Jussila (Proctor/Hermantown) scores with 54 seconds left in overtime to lift Section 7 to a come from behind 2-1 win over Section 8 in the final game of the evening. Shots of 43-27 favor Section 8

Kate Kosobud (Moorhead) put Section 8 on the board first with the assist going to Olivia Kortan (Moorhead) and they killed off a pair of penalties to hold on to the lead at the break.  Nora Sauer (Andover) tied the game in the opening minutes of the second period for Section 7 with the assist going to Gracyn Knowles (Blaine).
