Summary

CCM High Performance coach and District 12 Coach-in-Chief Amber Fryklund shares a game that focuses on quick passing, shooting and defending in tight spaces.

DESCRIPTION

  • X1/ X2 vs O1/O2 are playing 2 v 2
  • On change of possession, players must pass to the high or low support player on their team.
  • For example, X team has possession and O team gains possession, they must pass to O3 (high) or O4 (low).
  • Once they have made a pass to the high or low support player, the support players can pass, shoot and/or pass to each other as well.
  • Support players can be used at anytime, but they have to be used on a change of possession.
  • Support players can be pressured.
  • Players rotate from out (rest) to support players, to "in" playing, to out (rest).

KEY POINTS:

  • Support players are NOT stationary
  • Support players are moving, the low support player can play anywhere below the goal line to the middle of the back of the net.
  • The high support player can move anywhere in the quadrant/box from the blue line to the top of the circle to the middle point of the ice to the boards (the quadrant/box where they are).
  • Encourage the players to move to support the puck, and create passing lanes or shooting lanes.
  • Emphasis on decision making, puck movement, puck support, puck possession, and creating scoring opportunities.
