Summary

This week's Drill of the Week is a small-area game that forces players to read and react to pressure while also focusing on positioning in front of the net.

DESCRIPTION

  • X1 starts in the corner and passes a puck up to X3 along the boards. X1 then returns to the front of the net, where X1 and X2 battle with O1 for positioning in front of the net.
  • X3 gets the puck and has to read what O2 does. If O2 pressures X3, then X3 passes to X4, who will take a shot on net into traffic.
  • Should O2 cut off the pass to X4, X3 should take a shot on net into traffic.

KEY POINTS

  • Reading the pressure and reacting properly.
  • Hard, low shot on net.
  • Clearing the front of net/screening the goalie.
