Girls 15 Camp: Day 5 Recap

By Cheryl A Myers, 06/15/22, 11:00PM CDT

The final full day of camp was a full one.  Practices and evaluation meetings with coaches filled the morning.  Players were able to get back to the Yoga Studio for more relaxed stretching and learned ways to control their breath and clear their minds.  The afternoon was filled with dryland and the final round of games before seeding for tomorrow's final sessions.

Not to be out done by Team Dino, Royal(ty) donned tiaras today and last night's t-shirt creations were out in full force.  Coaches and players have quickly built a rapport that has the arena buzzing with  positivity that has been amazing to see and hear.

After dinner team leaders answered questions about their college experience and address topics of:

  • What does it mean to be a great team mate,
  • what are the biggest differences between high school and college,
  • what does your typical day look like.
  • and much more.

Giving the girls great insight as to what that next step might look like for them in a few years.

Sky Blue 4 White 1

The first match up of the day was a pair of unbeaten. Team Sky secures the win with 3 - 2nd half goals despite being out shot 15-6 in the half, earning the third seed in tomorrow's pairings.

Kendall Rykkeli (Anoka) with the game winner and Nora Hannan (Edina) stopping 14 shots.

White's record of 3-1-1 earned them the top spot tomorrow.

Royal 5 Green 3

A back and forth battle on the main rink had Royal and Green exchanging goals. Royal prevails and is in a 3 way tie in points for the top seed in tomorrows matchups.  Tiebreakers give them the second seed and they will face off against Team Sky Blue in the championship game.

Kalie Schmidt (Delano) led Royal's scoring with two goals and Sydney Bailey (Rogers) doubled up on the assists.

Ida Huber (Dodge County) saves 14 of 14 in the first half, keeping things scoreless for Team Red. Madelyn Belisle (White Bear Lake) scores the game winning goal on the power play, two minutes out of the break and Taylor Lesnar (Holy Angels) adds the cushion with 28 seconds on the clock.

Gold will play Sky Blue in the third place game tomorrow.
