Boys 15: Day 2 Recap

District 15 (maroon/yellow) vs. District 6 (red)

District 6 battled back from a 2-1 halftime deficit and scored 3 goals in the second half to beat District 15 4-2. D6’s Carson Steinhoff (Shakopee) was credited with the game-winner on the powerplay and also added an assist. Both D15 goalies were great, with Charles Stenehjem (Moorhead) making 14 saves and Izaak Kalis (Little Falls) making 22.

District 16 (yellow) vs. District 3 (white)

The two teams combined for 8 goals and 35 shots in the first half as District 3 came out on top by a score of 6-4 over District 16. D3’s Rio Treharne (Eden Prairie) led the way offensively with 2 goals and 2 assists while 3 other players tallied multiple points (Kvasnicka, Glende, Peck). D16 forward Jackson Boyer (Thief River Falls) got the scoring started early with 2 goals in the game’s first 2 minutes.

District 12 (blue/yellow) vs. District 4 (black)

It was a close game until the last 5 minutes, where District 4 pulled away with 4 goals to beat District 12 5-1. D4’s Mason Moe (Eden Prairie) scored twice in the second half and Josh Toll (Rosemount) collected 2 assists.  Goalies Carter Mayfield (Lakeville North) and Bennett Wilmer (Eden Prairie) combined for 17 saves in the win.

District 10 (green) vs. District 8 (orange)

Theodore Wackman (Spring Lake Park) scored for District 10 in the final minute to tie District 8 3-3. The shots on goal heavily favored D10 41-22 in what was a very physical game. D8’s goalie in the second half, Logan Klaren (Lakeville South), made 25 saves.

District 11 (light blue) vs. District 2 (grey)

This game was a one-sided affair, as District 2 rolled over District 11. Malachi McKinnon (Forest Lake) was the star of the show, scoring a hat trick and adding 3 assists. D2’s goaltenders Leo Gabriel (White Bear Lake) and Landon Huber (Stillwater) combined for the shutout.

District 5 (purple) vs. District 9 (dark blue/yellow)

District 9 earned a 6-2 win over District 5 with 4 goals coming in the first half. D9’s Cooper Siegert (Northfield) and Jackson Bielenberg Howarth (Rochester) both tallied 2 goals and Gavin Kor (Shattuck St. Mary’s) collected 3 assists. Nolan Rumsch (Buffalo) and Jackson Dhein (Sauk Rapids) were the goalscorers for D5.
