Girls 16: Day 3 Recap

Game 1: Section 1 - 8;  Section 4 - 0 

Section 1 came out flying with 6 goals in the first half to earn an 8-0 victory over Section 4 and claimed 7th place in this weekend’s tournament. Defenseman Ashley Wagenbach (Lakeville North) led the way with 2 goals and 2 assists and Emerson Garlie (Northfield) also scored twice. Goalies Jerilyn Eberling (Dodge County) and Mikayla Wilker (Owatonna) combined for 18 saves and the shutout of Section 4.

Game 2: Section 3 - 2; Section 6 - 4

Section 6 built up a 3-1 lead in the first half and held on to beat Section 3 4-2, earning a 3rd place finish in the tournament. Anna Rausch (Armstrong Cooper) scored the game-winning goal and S6 managed 33 total shots. S3 ended up placing 4th with a 1-2 record.

Game 3: Section 2 - 3 (SO); Section 7 - 2

After an exciting overtime period, Lauren Mack and Kendra Distad (both from Minnetonka) scored in the shootout to beat Section 7 3-2. S7 was down 2-0 in the last 10 minutes before Hannah Graves (Proctor-Hermantown) and Nora Sauer (Andover) tied it up late. Winners of the consolation game, Section 2 finishes 5th place in the tournament.

Game 4: Section 5 - 2; Section 8 - 4

Section 8 scored all 4 of their goals in the 1st half as they clinched the tournament championship over Section 5. S8 got 2 goals from Ella Holm (Moorhead) and 24 combined saves from the pair of Morgan Dorn (Sartell-Sauk Rapids) and Ericah Folden (Brainerd-Little Falls). Zoe Lopez (1G,1A) contributed to both S5 goals.
