Boys 14: Day 3 Recap

District 3: 6 - District 11: 1

In our first game of Day 3, District 3 came out ready to play by putting up the first 3 goals of the game and it looked like they would go into the half with a 3-0 lead. District 11 would respond with under a minute left in the half by getting a powerplay goal from Henry Martinsen (Hermantown). District 3 continued their dominance in the 2nd half, adding another 3 goals to their total.

This game saw 5 different players have multiple points, all from District 3. Leading the way was Jack Finnegan (Sioux Falls Power) with a hat trick, Dylan Dean (Osseo Maple Grove) with 1 goal and 2 assists, and Jack Shroat (Sioux Falls Power) with 3 assists. District 3 goalies Xavier Wendt (Hopkins) stopped 12 of the 13 shots he faced and Luke Carrithers (Osseo Maple Grove) stopped all 11 shots he faced. District 11 goalies Bryce Francisco (Hermantown) made 9 saves on 12 shots and Kaenan Smith (Duluth East) made 8 saves on 11 shots.

District 12: 2 - District 15: 9

Game 2 on the day started off as an even battle with District 15 taking a 3-2 lead into the break. The 2nd half provided District 15 with plenty of scoring as they netted 6 more goals. District 12 was held off of the scoresheet as they only put 6 shots on goal in the 2nd half.

Leading the scoring was District 15’s Zac Zimmerman (Moorhead) who had 1 goal and 2 assists. Brody Berg (Alexandria) and Samuel Horstman (Alexandria) each had 2 goals. District 12 goalies Grant Olson (Grand Rapids) made 10 saves on 13 shots and Jackson Norgaard (Bemidji) stopped 23 of 29 shots. District 15 goalies Griffin Lindberg (Detroit Lakes) stopped 9 of 11 shots and Brady Schluter (Alexandria) stopped all 6 shots he faced.

District 2: 6 - District 3: 3

The final game of the Boys HP 14 turned out to be a great one as District 2 and District 3 battled it out. After the 1st half, the teams were deadlocked in a 2-2 tie. Come the 2nd half, District 2 broke the tie with 10:51 remaining in the game. District 2 would add 2 more goals after. District 3 started a comeback attempt by scoring to make it 5-3 with 5:07 left but that was all it would be as they were held off the scoresheet for the remainder of the game.

District 2’s Luca Jarvis (Stillwater) would have the eventual game-winning goal, his first of 2 goals today. District 2 goalies Aidan Hesse (Sioux Falls Power) stopped 7 of 9 shots and Sam Hagel (MN Made) made 17 saves on 18 shots. District 3 goalies Luke Carrithers (Osseo Maple Grove) made 15 saves on 17 shots and Xavier Wendt (Hopkins) stopped 17 of 21 shots he faced.
