Tiered Fee Structure to Take Effect on April 1

St. Paul, MN – February 21, 2022 – Minnesota Hockey, an affiliate of USA Hockey, today is informing its membership of the new USA Hockey fee structure for the 2022-23 season. The USA Hockey Board of Directors approved the fee structure and increase during its winter meeting in Orlando, FL.

Starting on April 1, USA Hockey membership fees will be:

  • Ages 6 & Under - $15
  • Ages 7-8 - $50
  • Ages 9-12 - $61
  • Ages 13-18 - $70
  • Ages 19 & Over, including coaches - $46 (No change)

Minnesota Hockey fees, which apply to all USA Hockey members in Minnesota, will remain at:

  • Ages 6 & Under – Free
  • Ages 7-18 – $10
  • Ages 19 & Over, including coaches – $1

The new USA Hockey structure is designed to provide a tiered approach that reflects players’ involvement and use of USA Hockey programs and benefits. The leading causes for the increases at certain levels include rising costs for member insurance, legal fees, and the overall increases in the cost of goods and services USA Hockey utilizes.

“Minnesota Hockey and USA Hockey strive to be prudent with membership fees and provide valuable programs for the benefit of our members,” said Minnesota Hockey president Steve Oleheiser. “Unfortunately, the costs to provide those programs and benefits to membership have risen drastically in recent years, and as a result, it has become necessary for USA Hockey to raise fees to offset those increased costs.”

All ages listed above are based on birth years, according to USA Hockey rules. Minnesota Hockey and USA Hockey fees are paid simultaneously when players register with USA Hockey.

Minnesota Hockey, an affiliate of USA Hockey, is the governing body of youth and amateur hockey in Minnesota and the premier developer of hockey players in the state. Since 1947, our volunteer led, community-based associations have been providing the opportunity to play hockey in a safe and fun environment and now serve over 57,000 players each year.
