The Minnesota Hockey Officials Association (MHOA) and USA Hockey Officiating Education Program are set to begin classroom seminars for the 2021-22 season. Over 75 seminars are already posted in Minnesota starting September 18 and running through November.

USA Hockey and MHOA take great pride in ensuring every official has the knowledge and confidence to make the necessary calls on the ice to provide a safe and enjoyable hockey experience for everyone involved. The entire process for official’s certification is listed below. Please note the fees, minimum exam scores and modules may vary depending on the desired level of certification.

• Register through USA Hockey, including applicable USA Hockey and MHOA fees.
• Complete an officiating seminar (virtual or classroom) for the appropriate level.
• Complete online seminar modules for the appropriate level. (Not required for new/Level 1 officials)
• Complete and pass an open book exam.
• Complete and pass a closed book exam. (Not required for new/Level 1 officials)
• Complete a background screen if 18 years or older as of June 1, 2021
• Complete SafeSport training if 18 years or older at any point in the season
